Version 0.9.0 (August 2026) rebuilds city costs and platform busy-hour presets so metros in the same state are no longer clones. Every estimate is a planning average—open the calculator for live take-home, then read how we source Gridwise, AAA, EIA, Insurify, Tax Foundation, and IRS inputs below.

How presets are built (v0.9.0)
- Platform earnings start from Gridwise 2025/26 rideshare medians and 2026 delivery-pay surveys, then a per-city demand multiplier. Dataset meta:
asOf: 2026-08-24in presets.json. - City costs use AAA regular gas (August 24, 2026), EIA May 2026 residential electricity (via ElectricChoice), and Insurify August 2026 full-coverage averages, each adjusted so metros in the same state are not clones.
- Tax presets combine a 12% federal planning set-aside with 2026 Tax Foundation state wage rates. Self-employment planning uses 15.3%. The IRS comparison uses $0.76/mile (Jul–Dec 2026, IR-2026-29).
When markets shift (new incentives, fuel swings), we review the affected presets and refresh city pages so dated metadata stays current. We do not invent city earnings copy—deep links such as /uberx/ny/new-york compute take-home from the same math as the interactive app.
Update Cadence & Quality Checks
- Versioning — the public app version appears in the footer and on the changelog whenever user-facing notes ship.
- Manual validation — we spot-check page speed, search coverage, and canonical URLs on city deep links.
